Haus Labs products to achieve Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” glamor
It’s been 10 years since Lady Gaga gave birth to Born like this, his Grammy-nominated and chart-topping second album, packed with queer dancefloor hymns, iconic visuals and live performances that push the boundaries. PAPER celebrates its cultural impact by listening to some of Gaga’s closest collaborators, experts and fans.
Lady Gaga’s Born like this era had – in my opinion – some of its strongest makeup moments. She’s given us everything: full blast shirts, vixen lips, sultry shadows and more. When Gaga went on to launch Haus Labs, that same rebellious spirit found its way into her beauty line.
Below we break down some of our favorite looks from her. Born like this era, with 14 purchasable Haus Labs products to achieve Gaga glamor. Grab your pencils, girls, gays and them, cause it’s time to take some notes – and check out my latest SNATCHURAL video with Patrick Starrr.
“Born This Way” album cover
Tbh, this is my favorite Born like this look photographed by Nick Knight. I love a red lip on Gaga (and clearly her too). I think it really brings out her features so beautifully. The bleached forehead paired with this bold black ombre is … chef’s kiss. I really think Gaga was ahead of her time with the geometric liner and bold shadows. It’s giving e-girls, but make it haute couture. The fake beauty mark really adds to this look. Obsessed.
“You and me”
This soft nude lip paired with a deeper pink liner on Gaga is so stunning and really draws us to her eyes. She also cradles a discolored forehead, which is all the rage right now, and it makes her eyes stand out. She topped her lid with a smudged shimmering shadow … we love to see her.
Another moment of graphic lining that fascinates me! I love the super sculpted outline used for this look paired with a warm red lip. Gaga has a pointy forehead with a wing at the end that goes down – super edgy and classy.
“Edge of Glory”
Okay, so Gaga clearly loves her red lips and bold graphic linings! However, for this scene in the video, she kept her signature underneath the eyeliner look, but made the line thicker. For her eyelid, she has a smudged black shadow – but still thick and crisp – paired with a thick eyelash. Of course, she completes it all with her iconic red lip.
“Born like this”
This one is truly iconic. I love the faded forehead paired with this smudged black ombre. Notice how, unlike the previous makeup, the edges of her eyeshadow are lightly feathered, but still keep that bold effect. The real star of the show is these prostheses on his forehead and cheekbones. They really pop and contribute to that overall alien vibe. I also love this 2000s frosty style lip gloss and gloss.
“Marry the night”
Last, but not least: Gaga’s iconic look from “Marry the Night”, where she watches the dance studio before heading off to dance on top of a burning car. Fun fact, this is actually my all time favorite Gaga song and video. But back to makeup: here she was EONS ahead of everyone else with the fox-eye TikTok trend by connecting her liner in the inner corner. Love the super cut out forehead and yet another staple red lipstick.
