Libbie Mugrabi blasts her own tunes at Hamptons hotspot
At least the thieves didn’t get his Balenciaga boombox.
When divorced art collector socialite Libbie Mugrabi arrived at Almond in Bridgehampton over the weekend, we heard for her weekly gay party that she didn’t like the music and started blasting her own at the place.
Sources said Mugrabi, who was the victim of a high fashion heist last month in Europe, walked into Almond with a Balenciaga “speaker bag”.
(For the fashionistas: the obscure bag is a new collaboration between Balenciaga and the high-end audio line Bang & Olufsen. There are only 20 of them, and they can only be purchased at Balenciaga’s Paris store, for around 13 $000.)
A source told us of Mugrabi: “Libbie wasn’t thrilled with the disco music so she lit her bag and played Kanye West’s song ‘Gold Digger'” instead.
The source said Mugrabi’s table started ‘dancing and singing’ when ‘the head waiter rushed over and said to Libbie, ‘You need to put your bag out! It’s distracting from our own music . It was hilarious!”
A hotspot official confirmed the incident to Page Six, but played down Mugrabi’s rejoicing, telling us, “They arrived early, it wasn’t party time, they were sitting at a table – and she just started putting on some music.”
The staff member added: “Guests were like, ‘That’s too loud! We can’t get along,” and one of the managers approached to tell Mugrabi to turn off his music.
According to the Robb Report, the speaker bag was unveiled last month at the fashion house’s couture show in Paris. It’s made from “solid aluminum” and is “hand-beaded, anodized, and polished,” and even boasts an 18-hour battery life.
Last month, the Post reported that Mugrabi, who has his own line of accessories and is the ex of art scion David Mugrabi, was the victim of a burglary, when thieves stole $500,000 in clothing and jewelry.
She said, “My whole jewelry box with $200,000 worth of jewelry…was gone. I bought a ton of things from Balenciaga in Paris…and those things were all gone.
Apparently they forgot the speaker bag!
